Workshop on “Gender Budget: principles and tools”
Ani Plaza Hotel, Yerevan
Economic Development and Research Center (EDRC) organized a round-table discussion where the main principles of gender budgeting were presented. Representatives of Civil Society and international organizations (in particular, Oxfam GB, UNDP) were invited and participated in the discussion, which consisted of three parts. At first, gender-disaggregated data, current gender states in Armenia, as well as the international conventions on gender issues adopted by RA, were presented. In second part, the objectives, principles, tools and privileges of gender budgeting were described. At the last part of the workshop the participants actively discussed the issues, expressed opinions and made recommendations.

Presentation of “Maternal and child health: Achievement of Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 in Armenia” report

The Economic Development and Research Center (EDRC) made a presentation of “Achievement of Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 in Armenia” report at round-table discussion organized by Oxfam GB. The representatives of Ministry of Health of Armenia, different stakeholder local and international organizations (particularly, WHO, USAID) and Civil Society were invited and participated on the presentation. The report was actively discussed through various questions and recommendations.
The report focused on achievement of MDG 4 and 5 in Armenia based on reviewing and analyzing maternal and child mortality trends in Armenia, activities towards MCH improvement, Public Health sector financing by Government, as well as international experience, cross-country analysis and recommendations.

Presentation on Millennium Challenge Account-Armenia Data Quality Review

The Economic Development and Research Center (EDRC), being the MCA-Armenia’s Local Data Quality Reviewer, made a presentation on Methodology and Key Findings of MCA-Armenia Data Quality Review (DQR).
The representatives of Government, different stakeholder local and international organizations and Civil Society, as well as mass media were invited and participated on the presentation.
Since April, 2008 EDRC has been conducting an independent review of the quality of data reported to Millennium Challenge Account-Armenia by its Implementing Entities, Contractors, and data acquired through any surveys financed by MCA-Armenia or data received from any other sources and used for measuring the progress of the MCA-Armenia program. The DQR also focused on verifying the universally accepted aspects of data quality (such as accuracy, reliability, timeliness, objectivity and relevance) through review of all the components of data collection, processing, analyses and reporting processes (i.e. sampling methodology, techniques for surveys, Implementing Entity data collection, etc.)
