International Workshop on the Economic and Social Impact of Migration, Remittances, and Diaspora, June 24-25
Economic Development and Research Center (EDRC), with the World Bank and Government of Armenia, organized an International Workshop on the Economic and Social Impact of Migration, Remittances, and Diaspora on June 24-25, in Best Western Congress Hotel. The main purpose of the Workshop was to share the existent knowledge and best practices on how various CIS countries have dealt with the economic and social impact of migration (positive and negative; i.e. during upturns and downturns in business cycles), and to facilitate a discussion on the role of migration, remittances, and Diasporas on development.
Representatives from World Bank and other international organizations (IMF, IOM, ILO, GTZ, OSCE), policy practitioners from Armenia, Russia, Moldova, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, as well as academics and think tanks working in these areas, and representatives from the Government of Armenia participated in the Workshop.
The Workshop was opened by Mr. Nerses Yeritsyan, RA Minister of Economy, and Mr. Luca Barbone, WB, ECA PREM Director, who also set context of the four broad topics for the Workshop. Each country delegation, as well as representatives of above mentioned international organizations presented international and country experiences. The Workshop was closed with the concluding speech of Mr. Mushegh Tumasyan, RA Deputy Minister of Economy.

Start of New Rounds of INTERNSHIP Acceptance
Economic Development and Research Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of RA has initiated a project, whose current phase of the project envisages gathering a team of diligent, capable and educated young specialists, who will later have an opportunity to participate in different public and private projects. The initiative opens a unique opportunity for talented and smart young people to reveal their abilities, further develop them and to start a carrier.
